The parents of Bechke and Petrov wanted them to be involved in some physical activity and never thought about the potential of an outstanding skating career. Their first coaches saw their rapid progress and suggested they attend the Russian skating school for Olympic athletes. Coached by Tamara Moskvina, the pair developed their talents to become pair skaters of international caliber.
Both pointed to their 1991 Russian Championship and their 1992 Olympic Silver Medal from Albertville as their proudest achievements. Their death spiral, called the Impossible, is unique. They invented it with their coach, Tamara Moskivina.
